1. Narrative Description of General Public Benefit Efforts
a. Ways Tribeca Inc. pursued general public benefit and the extent of its creation:
Tribeca Inc., operating as Tribeca ColorSalons in Tampa, FL, continued to fulfill its mission as a Florida Benefit Corporation through the following initiatives:
- Inclusivity & Safe Spaces: As an LGBTQ-owned salon and member of Strands for Trans, Tribeca ColorSalons remained a visibly inclusive space, serving clients across the gender spectrum and providing respectful, affirming service to all.
- Environmental Impact: Through its Green Circle Salon partnership, Tribeca recycled 95% of its salon waste, diverted hundreds of pounds of materials from landfills, and promoted the use of sustainable product lines like Davines and FFØR.
-
Community Engagement:
- In December 2024, Tribeca donated a “Decoration Station” experience to On Bikes, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, supporting their annual holiday initiative for children in need.
- Provided in-kind services to the Tampa Bay chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, supporting their mission of queer visibility, joy, and community outreach.
-
Made monetary donations to the following national advocacy organizations:
- Center for Reproductive Rights
- National Network to End Domestic Violence
- LGBTQ Task Force
- Became the title sponsor of Tampa Bay United’s Women’s Leadership Program, promoting self-esteem and leadership development among young women and girls.
- Education & Professional Growth: The company continued its year-long apprenticeship program, The Color Construct, which offers advanced technical training and mentorship. Stylists also participated in quarterly education, focusing on inclusive practices and sustainable services.
- Accessibility & Client Care: Both Tampa locations remained fully ADA-compliant, offered a tiered pricing structure to support economic accessibility, and maintained a loyalty program to reward client retention and referrals.
b. Circumstances hindering pursuit of public benefit:
Rising costs of environmentally sustainable materials and staffing shortages occasionally impacted daily operations. Additionally, the salon experienced occasional difficulty sourcing diverse talent and models for its inclusive content campaigns due to budget limitations and limited availability.
